The picturesque fishing village of Oravi is located between two National Parks – Linnansaari and Kolovesi. Linnansaari is the main habitat for the world’s most endangered freshwater seal, Saimaa Ringed Seal. The Astuvansalmi site is the largest rock painting site in the Nordics. Considered a sacred place, the Astuvansalmi rock resembles the silhouette of a human face, like a sleeping godly figure. The mystery of Astuvan Ukko, "the old man of Astuva", is enhanced by the strange echo reflecting from the rock cavern when you approach the rock from the lake.
