Visit Porvoo

Old Porvoo, with its red-ochre painted riverside warehouses, is one of the most photographed national landscapes in Finland and a steady favorite among travelers. Here you can admire the colorful wooden houses and stroll the winding cobbled streets – as if in a children’s story book.

The sea in Porvoo starts at the Porvoonjoki river estuary and continues well into the outer archipelago. In the river delta, the sea means shallow water, with wind rustling in the reeds and internationally acknowledged bird reserves, and the national urban park. Next come the islands with forests, people and life. Farther out, there is the horizon and rocky islets. On one such islet, Moomins creator, Tove Jansson used to spend several months each year.

Experiencing the archipelago can mean a hot summer day in the sandy beaches of Sondby, taking the ferry to Pellinki, the Sandholmsudden evening market, sitting on a jetty all by yourself, a bike tour from the city centre to the Hamari harbour to have a coffee or admiring the horizon and the waves in the southern tip of Emäsalo.

Visit Kotka-Hamina

The fabulous, unexplored East Coast of Finland offers many adventures, whether by land, sea, or river! You will see and experience award-winning parks, historic buildings, and picturesque alleys and enjoy local hospitality.

Take time to experience Finnish culture and nature. Our towns, rivers, and archipelago are unique. Populated by cordial but tenacious people, this corner of Finland has a rich history, from the visits of Vikings to the most significant naval battle of the Baltic Sea.

From the roar of the nearby sea through to picturesque river deltas teeming with fish to idyllic harbor towns and villages – What a joy of discovery! Welcome to the East Coast of Finland!
